Optomec becomes Platinum-level member of America Makes

Albuquerque, N.M.-based Optomec, a global supplier of production-grade additive manufacturing systems for 3-D-printed metals and printed electronics, has become a Platinum-level member of America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute (NAMII). The role, which includes a seat on the organization’s governance board, increases Optomec’s participation in the institute, building on the three America Makes contracts the company has won in the past year.

Optomec was a founding member of America Makes in 2012 and currently is leading projects focused on the use of additive manufacturing techniques for the fabrication and repair of metal components.

“The projects we are directly involved in are all showing demonstrable progress, and will bring real value to manufacturers for the fabrication and repair of metal components and parts,” said Dr. Richard Grylls, LENS general manager at Optomec.
