Buildup electrode delivers deposits with hardness up to 31 HRC

April 16, 2014

Hardface Technologies, a business unit of Postle Industries, has introduced the Postalloy® RailTuff buildup electrode, suitable for the repair of carbon steel rail ends, wheel burns, wheel slip streaks, and carbon steel switch points. According to the manufacturer, the electrode provides greater wear resistance than low- and medium-carbon steel and low-alloy steels.

Deposits, which exhibit a hardness up to 31 HRC, have a high resistance to impact and deformation. The electrode is not subject to spalling or rollover. In addition, deposits are dense, crack-free, and porosity-free, the company reports.
