New ANSI.4 standard available

The Laser Institute of America (LIA) has released the new ANSI Z136.4 (2005) Recommended Practice for Laser Safety Measurements for Hazard Evaluation. This American National Standards Institute recommended practice provides guidance for optical measurements associated with laser safety requirements and is intended to help personnel responsible for conducting laser hazard evaluations ensure that appropriate control measures are implemented.

The practice was published as part of the ANSI Z136 series. The basic document in the series is the standard for Safe Use of Lasers, Z136.1, and the new recommended practice can be used as a supplement to that document.

The new document contains definitions, examples, and other practical information for laser safety officers, technicians, and educators.
