Horizontal honing system provides low to moderate stock removal
Ohio Tool Works has introduced the VersaHone horizontal honing system. It is suitable for honing applications that require low to moderate stock removal, such as hydraulic cylinder repair, gas meter runs, aerospace parts, plastic injection barrels rework, and compressor components.
The system is designed around the use of the company’s new VHT tooling system, which has an inclusive range of 1.98 to 22.0 in. ID based on a modular design. The company’s MD tooling can be used on diameters up to 3.5 in. ID, depending on the application. Tooling from other manufacturers can be used as well.
Features include rotary servo tool expansion through the spindle, industry-standard tool connection for quick changeovers, and intuitive controls. The system uses standard conventional vitrified and/or superabrasives.
