Air skate systems move loads up to 540,000 lbs.

March 4, 2013

Air skates from Lifting Gear Hire Corp. move heavy loads on a thin cushion of air. Available in sets of four or six, the air skates lower the coefficient of friction near 1 percent, allowing one person to move 5,000 lbs. on a smooth and flat floor.

The air skate system uses a manifold that individually controls the airflow to each air skid, helping the load travel slowly and evenly. The system also can achieve 360 degrees of rotation versus machine skate applications. It is available for rent in capacities from 15,000 to 540,000 lbs.
