Tool enables threading on punching machine

Pass Stanztechnik AG has developed the ps:multi-thread®, a threading tool that can be used as a six-station multitool integrated in one rotatable D-station of a Prima Power punching machine.

The tool is made with six positions that can be equipped with thread form units with measurements from M2.5 (and UNC #2-56) to M10 (and UNC 3/8 in.-16). Changover of used thread formers is simple. Changing two thread sizes takes 1 second, the company reports.

A planetary gear wheel in the tool enables a high turning speed at the thread former, thus enabling production of up to 30 threads/min. The transmission ratio is i = 1:5. The stress for the index-drive motor can be decreased through the gear transmission ratio.

The tool can be used on sheet thicknesses up to 0.31 in., depending on thread size.
