Cost estimating software enhanced with 3-D CAD feature recognition

MTI Systems Inc. has launched Costimator® Version 14. Enhancements in this latest version of the cost estimating software include 3DFX, an automated feature recognition function (AFR); enhanced cost models; and new cost/profit report and SQL Server 2014 compatibility.

The AFR add-on recognizes CAD features and their parameters from solid models and gives estimators complete control over features they extract and import for estimating. According to the company, the enhanced software increases estimating speed and quoting throughput up to 90 percent while improving estimating accuracy and consistency from part to part, estimator to estimator.

New cost models include 46 models for processes such as laser cut, sandblast, panel saw, surface work, and welding.
