Robotic blast system adapted for grit blast surface preparation

Guyson Corp. has introduced a new version of its RB-10 robotic blast system that is adapted for grit blast surface preparation of gas turbine blades and buckets up to about 3 ft. long.

The system’s 60- by 60-in. finishing chamber is designed with a heavily reinforced 60- by 48-in. vestibule at the rear to house an ABB Robotics IRB-2600 robot that directs a single pressure-blast nozzle. A 24-in.-dia. turntable inside the blast enclosure is servomotor-driven and controlled as a seventh axis of robotic motion to enable precise orientation of the workpiece during the robotic grit-blasting process cycle.

To facilitate handling of heavy components, the system is provided with a crane slot and a roof-mounted jib hoist with a 500-lb. weight capacity.
