Press feed line processes 36-in.-wide CRS coils

Peerless Industries has installed a Cooper-Weymouth, Peterson 36-in.-wide conventional press feed line for processing plasma and projection television brackets. The system processes 36-in.-wide coils of CRS from 0.030 in. to 0.164 in. thick with a weight capacity up to 8,000 lbs.
The press feed line comprises a ServoMax high-capacity (SMX H) servo roll feed; the 36D7 backed-up, powered straightener equipped with a high-speed drive to provide fast acceleration and deceleration without the use of a looping pit; an 8,000-lb., nonpowered stock reel (uncoiler); 4-in.-dia. matte chrome-plated feed rolls; an exclusive lever-action roll-lift mechanism; hand wheel-adjusted, self-centering edge guides; a cabinet with adjustable passline height; and a single-point lubrication system.
The stock reel model 4.5R-36, an 8,000-lb. single-coil-capacity unit, is set up for pull-off operation with a heavy-duty pneumatic drag brake to accommodate the increased acceleration and deceleration rates of the straightener. Hydraulic mandrel expansion is push button-actuated from the operator's station for simplified coil loading.
