Weld scan probes use eddy current to detect cracks

May 4, 2004

Zetec Inc. has introduced +Point® weld scan probes for weld crack detection. The probes use eddy current testing (ECT) to detect both transverse and longitudinal cracks within a weld or structural component.

According to the company, inspections can be completed quickly and easily with ECT over both conductive and nonconductive coatings, eliminating grinding and repainting efforts.

The water-resistant probes feature an advanced coil design and a wide frequency range. They are suitable for use with most steel types.
