Agility Robotics' Digit bipedal robot

Agility Robotics, the creator of the bipedal robot Digit, is opening RoboFab, a robot manufacturing facility in Salem, Ore., with the capability to produce more than 10,000 robots per year.

Initial construction of the 70,000-sq.-ft. robot factory began last year, and the facility is set to open later this year. At full capacity, the factory will employ more than 500 workers in Salem, in addition to employees at the company’s other locations. Digit also will work in the new factory in a similar capacity to Agility's customer sites—moving, loading, and unloading totes.

Co-headquartered in Corvallis, Ore., and Pittsburgh, the company also has offices in Palo Alto, Calif.
