Gestamp adding extension to Japan plant

Gestamp Hotstamping Japan is expanding with a new plant on its premises in Matsusaka, Japan. It will include a next-generation hot stamping line that combines a large press with an electric furnace to eliminate the need to burn gas to heat the blanks.

The 93,792-sq.-ft. expansion will bring the total building area to 190,562 sq. ft. The plant, which will supply automotive manufacturers with one-piece, high-strength, lightweight parts, is scheduled to be operational by June 2023.
