Marvin Wortell, owner of Triton Metal Products, dies at 100

Marvin Wortell, who founded Chicago-based precision metal fabricating and stamping company Triton Metal Products in 1961, died May 4 at the age of 100.

Wortell co-founded the National Institute for Metalworking Skills to push for a comprehensive curriculum for community college manufacturing departments. He also was a past chairman of the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association’s small manufacturers action council and former head of the American Metal Stampers Association. In 1998 the Illinois Institute of Technology, which Wortell attended, named him its manufacturer of the year for his contributions to manufacturing education.
