Simpac, Elm Park Labs partner to create extended reality tool for metal forming

Simpac America, the North American subsidiary of South Korean press manufacturer Simpac Inc., has partnered with Elm Park Labs, a Michigan-based, women-owned computer software company, to create an extended reality tool for the metal forming industry.

The collaboration is set to complete three project phases. The first phase will be an augmented reality (AR) sales and marketing software tool that will showcase Simpac’s CX-200 press, which includes IIoT technology designed to accelerate production of small stamped parts.

Elm Park Labs will handle the design, development, testing, and deployment of the AR application. The technology will provide a 3D view of the press and its internal components, enabling customers to check and adjust sizing and verify floor space requirements.

The second and third project phases will allow for a completely remote buy-off process. Technicians and operators will be able to access 3D instructions and support, and part orders, part identification, and tool identification specific to maintenance activity and part replacement will be seamless processes, according to the company.
