Ottenweller installs paint line

Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Ottenweller Co. Inc., a contract metal fabrication supplier to the heavy construction equipment, mining, defense, and aerospace industries, recently added an automated paint line capable of holding parts measuring 45 by 70 by 120 in. and weighing up to 2,200 lbs.

The line has two 44-ft.-long paint booths, one dedicated to primer coat and the other to topcoat, with a flash oven in between to expedite drying. The five-stage washer uses DuBois 1052 alkaline wash and clear-water rinse, DuBois zirconium nanoparticle pretreatment, and RO water rinse.

The line also features a Graco P-Mix II system with 22-color mixing stack and a 300-ft., 220-degree final cure oven. Line speed is 8 FPM.
