3-Dimensional Services Group celebrates 30th anniversary

The 3-Dimensional Services Group, Rochester Hills, Mich., a prototype and low-volume production firm, is marking its 30th year in business. The companies include 3-Dimensional Services, Urgent Design & Manufacturing, Urgent Plastic Services, and Michigan Integrated Technologies.

The company recently added two new facilities in Lapeer, Mich., and one in Rochester Hills, Mich. Together, the three campuses (seven facilities) of the company now total 500,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space with equipment including machining centers with spindle speeds up to 24,000 RPM, 3- and 5-axis fiber laser systems with up to 12 kW of power, automation cells with a 40-pallet changing capacity for sheet size up to 160 by 78 in., and more than 100 stamping presses.

3-Dimensional Services, the original company within the group, started in 1992 with five employees. Now, with more than 600 throughout the group, it’s a full-service engineering, design, and accelerated manufacturing firm that offers on-demand development manufacturing, production-intent prototype parts, and lower-volume production runs. Its capabilities include bridge tooling, prototyping, fabricating, laser processing, CNC machining, plastic injection molding, assembly, patterns, and models.
