CB Fabricating adds fiber optic laser cutter

Anderson, Ind.-based CB Fabricating has installed what it says is the first fiber-optic laser cutting machine of its size in the state. According to the company, the Amada ENSIS 3015 AJ system more than doubles its sheet metal cutting capacity. With this new addition, the company’s total investment in equipment and facilities over the last four years has reached about $4 million.

On average, the machine runs three times faster than a CO2 laser doing the same job, the company reports. The fiber-optic laser cutting technology uses a thin, high-energy density beam to cut thin materials at high speed while retaining the ability to cut ferrous steel up to 1 in. thick. This variable beam control technology also can match the thickness of the sheet metal automatically and continuously to provide clean, consistent cuts, states the manufacturer.

CB Fabricating manufactures such products as custom industrial machines, subassemblies, welded fabrications, and precision-fabricated parts and offers finishing and assembly services.
