Metaline extends capabilities with new equipment

As part of its 2021 inventory upgrade, Toronto-based metal fabricator Metaline has added advanced machinery, which includes a Bystronic ByStar Fiber laser cutting system, which the company says is a first-of-its-kind CNC machine in Canada.

The laser cutter features zero gas emissions and reduced energy consumption, and its high-accuracy cuts generate up to 50% less metal waste during operations. It produces clean-cut edges in thick and thin metals—up to 30-mm-thick steel, stainless, and aluminum and up to 15-mm-thick brass and copper.

In addition, a new, 3-axis CNC milling machine provides a 12,000-RPM, high-speed spindle with quick tool changes for reduced cycle times. And Metaline’s new CNC lathe is an automated turning center with a preconfigured part loader, featuring a large spindle bore for increased bar capacity up to 2.5 in. and a chuck size of 8.3 in. to accommodate larger parts.

The new lineup of machinery enables the fabricator to reach tighter tolerances and to deliver pieces to exacting standards for clients in aerospace, automotive, and construction.
