Steel Craft Corp. adds laser cutting system

Steel Craft Corp. has added a TRUMPF TruLaser Center 7030 to its facility in Hartford, Wis. The laser cutting system automates several processes that used to require multiple operators. It runs unattended for hours at a time, increasing output and boosting overall efficiency, the company states.

Large parts that need to be moved by forklift are cut and stacked onto pallets, while smaller items are sorted into buckets.

The part tabbing process has been eliminated, and so has the need for edge finishing, since the 12-kW laser uses nitrogen to cut through materials up to 1/2 in. thick.
