Ebtec Corp. adds three fiber laser systems

Agawam, Mass.-based Ebtec Corp., a division of Edac Technologies LLC, has acquired three LASERDYNE® fiber laser machining systems for installation at its newly expanded 83,500-sq.-ft. facility in East Windsor, Conn. The machines will join the company’s four existing fiber laser systems to provide complex and high-precision laser drilling, laser cutting, and laser welding in fabricated and machined metallic components and assemblies.

One of the new machines, a LASERDYNE 795XL BeamDirector with dual rotary tables and 6-axis processing capability, is outfitted with a 20-kW QCW fiber laser. It adds large part capacity for complex laser hole drilling at angles as shallow as 10 degrees to the surface in uncoated and thermal barrier-coated, heat-resistant materials.

The other two new machines are LASERDYNE 430 BeamDirector systems. The smaller-footprint systems can drill cylindrical and shaped holes and perform bevel cutting and welding on a variety of materials, including high-temperature nickel alloys, aluminum, copper, stainless steel, and titanium.
