Solar Atmospheres of Western PA adds machining capacity

Solar Atmospheres of Western Pennsylvania has added a Haas ST-10 CNC lathe to its facility in Hermitage, Pa. The machine’s 6,000-RPM spindle features an automatic tool changer with a 12-station, bolt-on tool turret.

According to the company, the investment in an automated lathe results in a 50% savings in the production of a variety of round tensile specimens. It also brings in-house the tensile testing of processed materials.

“This new CNC machining center will ultimately support our overall goal of becoming Nadcap Laboratory Testing AC 7101 approved,” said President Bob Hill.
