APWorks, Toyal partner to develop and distribute patented aluminum alloy

APWorks, a wholly owned subsidiary of Airbus, has formed a partnership with Toyal, a developer of aluminum-based products, to accelerate the production and distribution of its patented aluminum alloy, Scalmalloy.

The aluminum-magnesium-scandium alloy, developed specifically for additive manufacturing, offers strength comparable to titanium, APWorks states. Toyal will help to produce the alloy, focus on further developments in the alloy’s composition and production process, and distribute the material.
