New solar facility to deliver clean energy to EVRAZ North America steel mill

Chicago-based EVRAZ North America, a producer of engineered steel products for the rail, energy, and industrial end markets, has reached a long-term agreement with Xcel Energy and Lightsource BP to develop a 240-MW solar facility in Pueblo, Colo.

Lightsource BP will finance, build, own, and operate the Bighorn Solar project and sell all the electricity it generates to Xcel Energy under a long-term power purchase agreement. It will be located on EVRAZ Rocky Mountain Steel property in Pueblo, making it the largest on-site solar facility dedicated to a single customer in the U.S.
