Nucor breaks ground on $1.7 billion steel mill in Kentucky

Nearly 22 months after initially announcing the project, Charlotte, N.C.-based Nucor has begun construction on a 1.5-million-sq.-ft. steel plant in Bradenburg, Ky. The $1.7 billion steel plate manufacturing plant is expected to open in 2022 with 400 employees.

The company reports the new mill will produce 1.2 million tons of steel plating products annually.
