Primetals Technologies, Kappa to develop dedusting systems for steel industry

London-based Primetals Technologies and Kappa Filter Systems, Steyr, Austria, have announced plans to cooperate on the R&D, sales, and marketing of dedusting systems for the iron and steel industry.

A key feature of the systems will be Kappa’s patented Zeron large fabric filter. The solid concrete panel structure allows all the functional areas—from the dust preseparation to the clean gas stack—to be integrated compactly into one filter building for the first time. This leads to an optimal air flow pattern without turbulence or vortex, resulting in low total filter resistance. Dust emissions can be almost completely eliminated and the noise emission level significantly reduced, says the company.
