TimkenSteel adds quench-and-temper line to increase heat-treat capacity

TimkenSteel, a provider of customized alloy steel products and services, has brought online a $40 million quench-and-temper facility at its Gambrinus Steel Plant in Canton, Ohio, bringing the company's total annual thermal-treatment capacity to 500,000 process tons.

The quench-and-temper facility provides 50,000 process tons of additional quench-and-temper capacity to improve delivery times of thermal-treated bars and tubes to the automotive and oil and gas industries.

Manufactured by SMS Group with custom modifications made by TimkenSteel's in-house team of scientists and engineers, the facility can accommodate 4- to 13-in. bars and tubes.
