Trade association formed for aluminum recyclers

In January 2018 recycled aluminum alloy producers from across the U.S. formed the Aluminum Recyclers Council (ARC). Based in Wauconda, Ill., the council was formed to give key contributors to the aluminum industry a unified voice in an industry undergoing dramatic changes. ARC’s mission is to promote and defend the domestic aluminum recycling industry and establish a business excellence program focused in the areas of operational efficiency, environmental leadership, and worker safety.

The initial members of the board of directors are:

  • Chairman - Luke Palen, president, Spectro Alloys Corp., Rosemount, Minn.
  • Vice-Chairman - Mark Buchner, president, Continental Aluminum, New Hudson, Mich.
  • Directors: Brandon Cox, CEO, Custom Alloy Sales Inc., City of Industry, Calif.; Rick Merluzzi, president/COO, Metal Exchange Corp., St. Louis; Pat Carlin, sales manager, Superior Aluminum Alloys, New Haven, Ind.; Greg Palen, chairman, Spectro Alloys Corp., Rosemount, Minn.
  • President - Jeff Henderson, The Sanford Organization, Wauconda, Ill.
