Union Partners acquires Maksteel

Chicago-based metals and logistics company Union Partners has acquired Maksteel, a steel service center, toll processor, and logistics systems provider located in Mississauga, Ont. The Maksteel campus encompasses more than 27 acres of land and includes a 200,000-sq.-ft. production facility, along with a gantry-serviced outdoor storage area. The firm serves the agriculture, pipe and tube, automotive, construction, and oil and gas industries.

According to the company, Maksteel was the first service center in Canada to process AHSS and martensitic steels as part of its supply of material types and grades. The company offers operational capacity exceeding 700,000 tons of material annually on both a toll and resale basis. Specific capabilities include slitters that can accommodate coil widths up to 75 in. in thicknesses from 0.010 to 0.625 in.
