T&H Lemont ships RA11-18 roll former

T&H Lemont Inc. recently designed, built, and shipped a model RA11-18 roll forming machine for a customer that specializes in retail displays. The machine is being used to produce a kick plate, a width of contoured steel that protects the base of most display racks and cabinets.

The machine design was based on the company’s standard model RA11, customized with 18 stations, 1.5-in. shafts, and 14-in. roll spacing. It features 11-in. horizontal centers and vertical centers that are adjustable from 6-1/4 to 7-1/2 in. The roll former processes mild steel in thicknesses from 0.031 to 0.035 in. at speeds up to 100 FPM.

Its welded steel base uses plate-type construction. The shafts are made from high-strength alloy steel, carburized, and ground. Precision tapered cup/cone bearings can bear both radial and axial loads. The hardened gears run in an oil bath for smooth, quiet operation.
