Matrix Service facility earns OSHA’s highest safety designation

Tulsa, Okla.-based Matrix Service Co. has announced that its Catoosa Fabrication facility has received the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star designation. This status—the highest awarded by OSHA—is given to employers and employees who demonstrate exemplary achievement in the prevention and control of occupational safety and health hazards and serve as role models for others. The plant is one of only two heavy metal fabrication facilities in the U.S. to have achieved this status.

The 215,000-sq.-ft. facility processes more than 45,000 tons of steel per year in the manufacture of above-ground tanks, pressure vessels, towers, and drums. At the time of award, the facility had completed nearly 870 days without a recordable incident, placing it within the top 1 percent of fabrication facilities nationwide.
