Concept Laser GmbH, Lichtenfels, Germany, has announced it recently received several awards in recognition of its 3-D metal printing technology.
The company was named to the Growth Champions 2017 list by Focus magazine for outstanding sales growth from 2012 to 2015. In those three years, sales at the company rose from $18.7 million to $71.3 million. The firm was ranked No. 155 in the overall list of 500 companies and No. 8 in the machinery and plant engineering industry grouping.
The company also won the Bavarian Innovation Award, presented by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Economy and Media, Energy and Technology; the Bavarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and the Consortium of Bavarian Chambers of Crafts. This award recognizes companies that have the courage and persistence to try new things and develop innovative ideas until they become economically viable. Concept Laser won the award with its QM Meltpool 3D quality assurance module and with the application motto “X-raying without X-rays.”
In addition, the firm received the Materialica Design + Technology Award 2016 for outstanding achievements in the application of materials. The award recognized Concept Laser’s joint NextGen Spaceframe project with EDAG Eng., Laser Zentrum Nord, and the BLM Group. The project highlights new prospects for bionics and lightweight construction in automotive engineering in a concept car: Additively manufactured bodywork nodes and lasered profiles are combined in a hybrid manufacturing concept.
