Hutchinson Mfg. president receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Hutchinson, Minn.-based Hutchinson Mfg. has announced that its president, Tom Daggett, will receive the 2018 Made in Minnesota Manufacturing Awards Lifetime Achievement Award from Minnesota Business magazine.

Daggett’s parents started Hutchinson Mfg. and Sales Inc. in 1953. He began doing work at the company by the age of 12, and by age 16, he had first-hand experience running many of the processes in the plant.

Daggett earned a degree from the University of Minnesota and began working for the family business as general manager in 1978, taking over as president in 1991. Under his leadership, the company has grown to a multimillion-dollar business with global sales primarily in the defense, nuclear, and industrial sectors.

In 2002 Daggett purchased May Wes, an aftermarket agricultural product company, and formed Pride Solutions LLC as an umbrella company for four companies specializing in UHMW poly material. In 2010 the Daggett Companies opened NuCrane Mfg. in Hutchinson with partner PaR Nuclear, a subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Co..

Daggett has been active in the Hutchinson community, serving as chairman of the Hutchinson Area Health Care Board, chairman of the ISD #425 Hutchinson School District, and serving on numerous task forces for local and regional development.

The company supports numerous organizations, including the Ridgewater College Welding Advisory Board, Hutchinson School Board, MN Workforce Development Committee – Positively MN, manufacturing industry trade associations, Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Manufacturers, Minnesota Precision Manufacturing Association, Employers Association, and the National Federation of Independent Businesses.

The company also contributes to several charities.
