LMI Aerospace to close fabrication operation in Kansas

LMI Aerospace Inc. has announced plans to close its Wichita, Kan., sheet metal fabrication operation by the end of September and move remaining work to the company’s facility in Mexicali, Mexico.

The Wichita-Esthner facility plant has mainly fabricated legacy platforms for the large commercial widebody and business and regional jet markets. According to the company, customer demand for these platforms has declined significantly.

The company will continue to operate its Wichita-Hillside machining operation in Kansas.
