Mercury Marine expands Wisconsin manufacturing plant

Mercury Marine, a division of Brunswick Corp., a manufacturer of recreational marine engines, has added what it says is the largest high-pressure die casting machine in North America at its manufacturing complex in Fond Du Lac, Wis.

With the 4,500-ton Buhler-Prince machine, the company can make larger, lightweight structural components and reduce the overall weight of its engine by producing more efficient castings. The integrated cell is automated to allow for robotic metal pouring, die lube spraying, and automated sawing of gates.
