Meritor earns quality, delivery awards

Automotive supplier Meritor Inc., Troy, Mich., recently received multiple awards for quality and delivery.

PACCAR, which manufactures DAF, Kenworth, and Peterbilt trucks, awarded the company’s Escobedo, Mexico, plant a 2016 10 PPM Quality Award for its excellence in meeting or exceeding the OEM’s rigorous standard of 10 or fewer defective parts per million shipped.

Hino Motors Mfg. U.S.A. Inc. awarded the company a 2016 Quality Improvement Award. Meritor supplies the OEM with front- and rear-dressed axles from its Forest City, N.C., site.

The first-ever 2016 Gold Award for Delivery was awarded by Ashok Leyland for on-time delivery performance, including support for the sudden ramp-up in construction dump truck demand. Meritor’s Mysore, India, site supplies almost 65 percent of the axels and half of the brake systems for the OEM, a manufacturer of commercial vehicles for India and export markets.

The company also has received the 2016 Masters of Quality Award from Daimler Trucks North America. It supplies front and rear axles, drivelines, and brakes for Daimler’s Freightliner and Western Star brands from four facilities in North America. To qualify for the award, suppliers must have fewer than 50 rejected parts for every 1 million parts shipped to Daimler and achieve an overall supplier score of greater than 94 percent.
