Morris Industries president to address MMP Saskatoon Expo

Ben Voss, president and CEO of Morris Industries, Saskatoon, Sask., will address attendees at the Metalworking Manufacturing & Production (MMP) Expo on Wednesday, May 2. The one-day, free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Prairieland Park events center. MMP Expo series sponsors Canadian Metalworking and Canadian Fabricating & Welding are joined by Prairie Manufacturing for this event.

Voss’ keynote presentation at 9 a.m. will discuss how automation and robotics are evolving in manufacturing, how to focus on high-value rather than high-volume work to be successful in a global marketplace, and the importance of a global supply chain to be competitive as a major exporter when combined with advanced manufacturing.

Before being appointed as president/CEO of Morris Industries Ltd., Voss led the acquisition of the controlling stake in the Morris group of companies in partnership with Avrio Capital and Lamont Brown Group. He has run businesses since 1997 when he started his first company while still in university.

“We’re very excited to bring the MMP Expo to Saskatoon for the first time,” said Rob Swan, show manager. “We will be giving local manufacturers an opportunity to step away from their shops for a few hours to interact with leading suppliers in all areas of metal manufacturing.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to talk with more than 90 exhibitors showcasing their latest machine tool, cutting tool, fabricating and welding, production software, and metrology products.

The event, co-located with Design Expo, is sponsored by Elliott Matsuura Canada, Renishaw, and TRUMPF.

Free registration for the event is available at www.mmpexpo.com.
