New Flyer to open bus and coach parts fabrication facility in Kentucky
New Flyer of America Inc., a subsidiary of transit bus and motor coach manufacturer and parts distributor New Flyer Industries Inc., has announced plans to build a $28 million part fabrication facility in Shepherdsville, Ky.
The 300,000-sq.-ft. facility will fabricate parts for the manufacture of New Flyer transit buses and MCI motor coaches, as well as spare parts for NFI Parts. Production is expected to commence during Q2 2018, reaching full operation by December 2019 and employing up to 550 people.
Targeted processes for this new facility include metal fabrication and machining, powder coating, electrical component manufacture, hose manufacture, injection molding, and thermoforming plastics.
