PSF Mechanical Inc. marks 120 years in business

PSF Mechanical Inc., a mechanical design-build contractor based in Seattle, marks 120 years in business in 2018.

David W. Bowen founded the company that would become PSF in 1898. Known then as Puget Sound Sheet Metal Works, the company took advantage of the fervor created by the Klondike Gold Rush, fabricating and selling items needed by prospectors headed to Alaska, such as compact folding stoves and gold pans.

The company name changed to Puget Sound Fabricators in 1955 and eventually became PSF Industries in 1967. In the early 1970s, the firm established the mechanical contracting department, which became a separate company, PSF Mechanical Inc., in 1991. Three years ago the company moved into a 33,000-sq.-ft. facility, allowing for expansion of its sheet metal and pipe fabrication shops.
