SMS to supply production planning system to Nucor Steel Gallatin

SMS group has announced that Nucor Steel Gallatin, Ghent, Ky., has commissioned the company to supply an X-Pact® MES 4.0 production planning system for the pickling and galvanizing line Nucor ordered recently.

The production planning system, which features modular, extendible structures, can be integrated seamlessly in the X-Pact automation system that Nucor already has ordered for its strip processing line.

In addition to the basic system for recording and storing the production data, the scope of supply includes connection to the automation systems and to the customer’s ERP system. It also includes technical order generation, plant sequencing system, and business intelligence reporting modules.
