Taylor Mfg. to gain improved street access through grant money

Taylor Mfg., a metal fabrication business in Stevenson, Ala., that employs 75 people, will benefit from a $200,000 grant awarded to the city of Stevenson from the Appalachian Regional Commission. The city will use the funds to upgrade Adams St., a main thoroughfare for Taylor and several other businesses.

The company experience steady growth since starting operations in a previously abandoned facility, but the resulting increased traffic of heavy trucks and rigs has caused Adams St. to deteriorate. Reconstruction of the 1,700-ft.-long street will enable better access for plant traffic in addition to vehicles traveling to the other businesses on the street.
