TRUMPF Inc. expands training capabilities for customers, employees

TRUMPF has completed a $3 million, 18,000-sq.-ft. expansion of its training center in Farmington, Conn. The facility, now 40,000 sq. ft., offers classroom and at-the-machine instruction in precision metal fabrication.

With the expansion, the company can train 5,000 students within 630 training events a year, a significant increase from the 3,000 students that took part in training events a year ago. The new training floor is equipped with 13 TRUMPF machines, including tube lasers; material handling and material storage systems; and laser, bending, and punching machinery. The facility includes 14 classrooms, as well as two virtual learning classrooms in which an e-learning specialist teaches online machine operator and programming training.

The company offers IACET- and SAA-certified courses, as well as a tuition-covered, full-time, paid apprenticeship program for aspiring employees. It also is certified to train veterans to earn Continuing Education Units at no cost to them.
