United Alloy announces expansion plans

United Alloy has announced plans to build a welding factory in Harvard, Ill. The firm also will add 100,000 sq. ft. to its Janesville, Wis., headquarters. To support the expansions, the company expects to hire 100 welders this year.

The city of Harvard plans to work with McHenry County College to create a training program for people interested in a welding career. The course will take about eight weeks, and graduates who pass United Alloy’s test requirements will be considered for employment.
