Barton Intl. triples storage capacity at Louisiana plant

Barton Intl., a provider of garnet abrasives based in Glens Falls, N.Y., has expanded its Port of South Louisiana warehouse and processing center, nearly tripling its storage footprint.

The new, nearly 77,000-sq.-ft. building comprises an annex adjacent to its existing 44,000-sq.-ft. structure. The expanded facility holds industrial garnet used in waterjet cutting, coatings removal, and abrasives applications. The expansion project included a new roadway and other paved areas, as well as a loading dock ramp, truck scales, and bulk storage bins.

"We've upgraded our processing operations by building out the lines from three to four," said Delroy Ross, director of warehouse operations. An air washing process has been added, and the facility’s packaging unit can produce multiple configurations to meet customer requirements.
