FARO Technologies’ TracerSI laser projection system helps reduce assembly

FARO® Technologies’ TracerSI Laser Projector with BuildIT Projector software allows the user to both project and inspect. The TracerSI projects CAD-based outlines onto any surface and compares aspects of the objects to the CAD model via laser scanning with in-process verification.

According to the company, this is the only laser projection system that fully supports targetless, feature-based alignment, allowing users to align large-volume, no-touch parts. Instead of using retroreflectors, users can select holes or corners in the CAD model for alignment points.

Virtual templating helps reduce time for layout, setup, and assembly; standardize alignment and inspection workflows; detect and reduce manufacturing errors in real time; eliminate the space and costs of storing physical templates; and improve quality control processes, says the manufacturer.
