Software speeds up simulations of sheet metal structures

Simufact, an MSC Software company, has released Simufact Welding 7. New functionality has been added to the welding simulation software.

Assemblies made of thin metal sheets can be calculated more quickly because the required number of elements in the model drops significantly with the new, solid shell elements feature.

The segment-to-segment method implemented in the new solver allows fast calculation of large models with many contact surfaces. This contact description uses domain decomposition method, a parallel computation framework that uses parallel computation efficiently.

The newly implemented thermal cycle method shortens computing time for complex and large assemblies.
