Beckhoff boosts XTS movers’ capabilities with No Cable Technology

Beckhoff has developed No Cable Technology (NCT), an extension of its eXtended Transport System (XTS). NCT provides contactless power supply and synchronous real-time data communication directly to XTS movers. This enables individual movers to serve as mobile handling and processing stations, essentially turning the transport system into a flexible multirobot system.

The new technology adds a motor module and electronics that mount on the movers. The hardware required for the transmission technology is fully integrated into the motor module, and no additional connections or supply lines are needed.

This technology makes it possible to check the quality of products on the mover while the process is running. The TwinCAT control system enable easy connection of sensors and actuators. The data communication is real-time capable and can synchronize systemwide events.
