Centrifugal disc finishers from Bel Air Finishing Supply polish and deburr multiple materials

centrifugal disc finishers for polishing and deburring materials

Bel Air Finishing Supply Inc.

Bel Air Finishing Supply has developed centrifugal disc finishers for polishing and deburring materials including brass, copper, steel, stainless steel, aluminum, Kovar, and titanium. According to the company, the finishers eliminate 80% of handwork and produce more than five times the output of hand deburring operations.

The unit features a bowl-shaped finishing chamber comprising a fixed upper bowl and spinning bottom disc. The disc rotates both the media and parts within the chamber, forcing the mass to the stationary outside wall. This mass of parts and media then folds back to the center.

This process is repeated, creating a 3D toroidal action that produces 10 times the G force of a vibratory bowl finisher, according to the company. While this is happening, water and finishing compounds are added to the mix to keep the media and parts clean. Process effluent, which contains the broken-down parts of media, small amounts of part materials, and water mixed with compounds, flows through an adjustable north/south gap.
