Weldcote air-cooled rubber backup pads help extend disc life, increase RPM rating

Weldcote, a division of Zika Group, offers air-cooled, rubber backup pads designed to extend the life of resin-fiber discs and keep the workpiece cooler. Made for use with right-angle grinders, the backup pads are available in a variety of sizes and spiral and smooth styles from 4 to 9 in.

The mechanical and chemical bond between the rubber pad and metal provides increased airflow and higher RPM ratings, the company reports. The flexible rubber backup pads are suitable for working on contours, while more rigid pads are better suited to last longer on aggressive grinding applications.
