2-D laser cutting system fits in shops with limited floor space

Mazak has designed the new Super Turbo-X 1212 2-D laser using a hybrid platform and a 4- by 4-ft. table. The fully enclosed cutting area meets FDA Class 1 safety standards.

The machine incorporates a servo focus torch that helps reduce piercing time and increase productivity, according to the manufacturer. Additional new technology includes a high-accuracy auto-centering lens and nozzle design.

The machine is available in 2.5-kW and 4.0-kW CO2 configurations. Its Meehanite® frame reduces vibrations that occur with high-speed cutting.

Intelligent setup functions include auto focus position, auto profiler calibration, and auto nozzle cleaning. Intelligent monitoring functions include pierce detection, plasma detection, and burn detection.
