Laser system processes microfeatures on metals

Preco Inc. has introduced the Lightning Bolt 2000 laser system for processing microfeatures on metallic, ceramic, and polymer materials. The system can be customized to accommodate IR, green, and UV wavelengths and nanosecond, picosecond, and femtosecond lasers. Typical processes include ablation, via drilling, surface texturing, and cutting.

The Windows®-based PC controller has full graphical CAD interface with the ability to import common file types such as AutoCAD® DWG and DXF format. Processing files can also be generated inside the AcuBeam™ software. The system uses galvo motion for high-speed, accurate laser processing, the company states.
